My Freedom Date

I am finally ready for what’s next…. January 17, 2018 everything changed. It was MLK weekend, and I asked my mom to take my kids for a sleepover. It was a date we remember freedom and when so much changed after 4 words “I have a dream.” Well, on that evening I sat with my not so loving husband and said the 4 words that will forever change us. “I want a divorce.” It’s time to kill what has been slowly dying and put this marriage out of its misery.

Since then I have been a never-ending work in progress. Everyone says “the kids will be fine- they are resilient.” I’m sorry but that is a bullshit statement! They are emotional humans like people of all ages and aren’t just naturally resilient. But thankfully with my support and 5 years of therapy they are ok and have learned resilience. Now, five years later through learning to be alone, reinventing myself, dating and getting back to the things that bring me pure joy like salsa dancing, I am finding my divine woman within.
